The Values That Guide Ascend Appraisers

When Kelli Kline Mayhew, SRA, MAI joined us as a Spotlight Speaker, I knew we were in for a thoughtful conversation. What I didn't expect was how deeply her message would resonate with me.

Kelli challenged us to think differently about leadership, confidence, and the way we show up in our profession. After her presentation, I found myself reflecting on what we've been building at Ascend Appraisers and the values that have shaped this community from the beginning.

Those reflections became this.

We are...

Ambitious women in valuation. Paid experts and aspiring appraisers.

Residential and commercial—sole proprietors, corporate employees, and firm owners.

Independent, and proud of it.

Daughters, mothers, grandmothers, partners, aunts, friends, neighbors, volunteers, providers.

Done navigating rooms that weren't built for us.

A team of women, on purpose.

We believe...

Making the right connection can change lives.

We rise together in community.

There is enough work, and enough wealth, for all of us.

We deserve to be paid well for our expertise.

Relationships outlast transactions.

We support...

We support each other with resources, referrals, references, and nominations.

We promote women at every turn.

We connect women with sponsors, mentors, jobs, and opportunities.

We support women-owned businesses whenever we can.

We celebrate each other.

We build rooms where women rise.

We won't...

We won't undercharge.

We won't shrink.

We won't apologize for taking up space.

We won't compete by tearing other women down.

We won't confuse advice with support.

We love...

We love gathering in beautiful places.

We love our connection with each other.

We see all of each other.

We understand the work, and we know the life around it.

We make room for joy, not only ambition.

We create pleasure and abundance for each other.

Radical mentorship. Radical resource sharing.

Thank you for being part of this community. Every conversation, connection, and opportunity to learn from one another has helped shape Ascend into what it is today. I'm grateful for each of you, and I look forward to seeing what we'll continue to build together.
